Johnny Castle ha un sogno che coltiva fin da quand’era bambino: diventare una star del cinema. Negli ultimi tre anni, animato da questa ossessione, Johnny ha vissuto a Los Angeles e l’incrocio fra Hollywood Boulevard e Vine Boulevard è stato per lui il naturale palcoscenico dal quale autopromuoversi. È sicuro che presto verrà il giorno in cui, un produttore o forse anche un regista, decideranno di scritturarlo affidandogli un ruolo da protagonista nel loro prossimo film. Ma, nonostante il suo ottimismo, da quando si è trasferito a Los Angeles, è riuscito a ottenere soltanto una piccola parte in un film di fantascienza di serie B. Fra non molto il film uscirà nelle sale e Johnny desidera tanto poter mostrare al padre che vive a Chicago il risultato dei suoi sforzi. Ottenuta in anteprima una copia del film in DVD, Johnny parte alla volta di Chicago per fargli una sorpresa.

Johnny Castle had a dream since he was a kid: to be a movie star. Driven by his obsession, Johnny moved to Los Angeles, and the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Boulevard became his natural stage to promote himself. Johnny is definitely sure that some day a producer or maybe a director will sign him for their next movie. Even though Johnny has this optimistic way of viewing life, since he moved to Los Angeles in three years he was able to obtain only a small part in a science fiction B-movie. Very soon the movie will come out in the theatres and Johnny want to show the result of his work to his father that live in Chicago. He obtained  a preview dvd copy of the movie from the director so that he’ll be able to do a wonderful birthday surprise to his dad.
